Trucker rescued from Indiana flood

A truck driver had to be rescued after attempting to drive more than a mile through flood waters on Feb. 27 in Indiana, a public information officer for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources District 8 said.

“The truck driver drove through a mile or two of high waters,” the Indiana DNR’s Jim Schreck said. “The water kept getting deeper and deeper. Once he tried to turn back, it was too late. There was no way he was going to back out a mile with a trailer.”

According to a Facebook post from Indiana DNR District 8, the truck driver was rescued by airboat and a citizen after the tractor-trailer stalled.

The incident happened near Cortland in Jackson County. Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb had issued a disaster declaration in 22 counties as of March 2.
