Next stop brings The Spirit to Bordentown, N.J.

The Spirit next rolls from Willington, Conn., to Bordentown, N.J., in the process taking an interstate tour through New York City.

The Spirit is scheduled to be at the Bordentown, N.J., Petro Stopping Center on Oct. 24-26.

The Bordentown, N.J., Petro Stopping Center can be reached from I-295 via Exit 57 and from the New Jersey Turnpike via Exit 7.

Bordenton is on the eastern fringe of the Philadelphia metropolitan area and on the New Jersey side of the Delaware River.  Bordentown is about 6 miles from Trenton, N.J. and about 25 miles northeast of Philadelphia.

Bordentown at its inception and perhaps at its heart is all about transportation. It is named for Joseph Borden, who had a line of stagecoaches (perhaps the tractor-trailers of that era) and boats to carry people and freight between New York City and Philadelphia. He died in 1765.

The Bordentown Petro has 490 parking spaces. Also known as the Bordentown Junction Truck Stop, it was founded in 1988 and encompasses 40 acres. It offers an array of services, including truck maintenance, medical services, a pet area and a StayFit basketball hoop, horseshoe pit, fitness room and bean bag toss.
