Interstate 95 is scheduled to be closed the two weekends in Stamford, Conn.

I-95 will be closed May 31-June 2 and June 8-9.

The Route 1 bridge over I-95 is being replaced. The bridge is at Exit 9.

Stamford traffic on I-95 will be detoured onto the Exit 9 ramps, and back onto the highway. The detours will be in operation from 9 p.m. on Friday until by 5 a.m. on Monday morning during both weekends. The speed limit will be 20 mph on the detour.

Officials suggest taking alternate routes these two weekends.

Check out the I-95 lane shift detour map.

The interstate and Route 1 will open for traffic on weekdays.

Two prefabricated bridge spans will be installed over the two weekends.

The northbound span will go into place the first weekend and the southbound span the second.

The four-lane bridge was built in 1958. Its condition has been rated as poor. Connecticut DOT estimates, from 2014 data, that more than 140,000 vehicles travel I-95 at this point in Stamford daily and nearly 17,000 vehicles pass over the Route 1 bridge.
