Semi-truck drag races, barbecue to highlight ‘Trucking For Kids’ benefit

A charity barbecue, semi-truck drag races, a light show and more will be part of the festivities at the 38th annual Truckin’ For Kids 2018 this weekend in Irwindale, Calif.

The event begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Irwindale Event Center and continues through Oct. 7. Proceeds will benefit the JDRF, a nonprofit committed to eradicating juvenile diabetes.

Preregistration for the event has now closed, but those interested in attending can register at the show. The cost for a truck and driver to register is $75. Admission for spectators is $15. Children 12-and-under are admitted for free.

Gates open at 8 a.m. Saturday and close at 6 p.m. On Sunday, gates open at 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

The 10-4 Magazine Charity BBQ begins at 6 p.m. Saturday. A plate of barbecue plus sides is available for $8. Other sponsors include RoadWorks Manufacturing, a division of Lund International.
