Jon Osburn, skipper of OOIDA’s The Spirit of the American Trucker tour truck, plans to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Glendale, Ky.

You can find Osburn and The Spirit parked at the Glendale Petro. It is at Exit 86 on I-65.

He is scheduled to be there until Sunday, March 18. The next stop after this will be the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., where you can meet up with him and a contingent from OOIDA, including Land Line Magazine and Land Line Now staffers.

If you are going to MATS too, remember on Friday, March 23, OOIDA plans to host a special member event there to celebrate the life of Jim Johnston, OOIDA’s long-time president and CEO who died Jan. 8.

This free open house event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in conference room B101/102 in the South Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center.

All members are invited to come and meet OOIDA board members, staff and fellow OOIDA members as we acknowledge the extraordinary contribution Jim made to all professional truckers and to OOIDA’s 45-year history and its growth into the nation’s largest trucker organization.  Several speakers, including OOIDA Acting President Todd Spencer, will address the event.

If plan to attend this event, please help us plan for refreshments by RSVP’ing here.

Before setting up in Glendale, The Spirit was parked at the Jackson, Miss., Petro. Osburn said he introduced a lot of people there to OOIDA. Also, there were a lot of company drivers asking really good questions. Top issues: ELDs and hours of service.

Osburn said he gave away a lot of free-admission passes to MATS. If you want a free pass to the show, go ask him for one.

Take time to stop and visit with Jon about the Association’s activities and current issues. You can also join or renew your OOIDA membership for $10 off the regular price. Also, you can get vouchers for flu, shingles and pneumonia vaccines from Jon at The Spirit.
