Truckers for Troops Telethon Day 5

LLN (11/9/18) – It’s Day 5 of the 2018 OOIDA Truckers for Troops Telethon. Also on the program, helping vets take care of their own families during the holidays. A facility that provides a temporary home for family members of veterans while those vets are receiving medical treatment. And why a Barbie doll is a good thing to include in a care packages for vets.

Terry Scruton talks with Donna Russillo of the Providence, Rhode Island, VA about the needs that our veterans at home have that most people don’t think about – like taking care of their family members during the holidays.

Holly Wright works at a facility that provides a temporary home for family members of veterans while those vets are receiving medical treatment. And she says some simple things can make life for those folks a whole lot better. Mark Reddig has the story.

  • We’re soliciting hand-made cards and letters from kids, as well as personal thank-you letters to the troops from truckers and others. Segment 4

Last year, Truckers for Troops sent an interesting list of items – to say the least – to the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center, including Barbie Dolls and nerf guns. However, those items provide a vital service to the men and women at the center that might surprise you. Mary McKenna reports.
