Authorities in Louisiana are searching for a person who attempted to rob a truck stop last month.

The Caddo Sheriff’s Office posted a news release on Wednesday to ask the public for help identifying an attempted armed robber at the Relay Station truck stop and casino on Sept. 17.

According to the Caddo Sheriff’s Office, the crime occurred about 5:30 a.m. at the truck stop near U.S. Highway 79 in Bethany, La.

“The suspect entered through the truckers’ entrance located at the rear of the business,” the news release said. “He walked into the casino area, where he kneeled down behind the bar and attempted to open the cash registers and cash drawer without success.”

The would-be robber then left the casino through the front door and ran into an open field. Law enforcement officers reported they believes the suspect ran to a red vehicle on the northeast side of Highway 79 and fled south toward Bethany, Texas.

Anyone with information involving the incident can call Caddo Sheriff’s Det. Jason Morgan at 318-681-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.

Surveillance video of the incident was provided by the Caddo Sheriff’s Office.
