Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. is recalling certain Roadmaster RM852 EM drive tires for issues that involve the sidewall, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall documents.

More specifically, Cooper Tire is recalling more than 4,000 Roadmaster RM852 EM tires, size 295/75R22.5, with DOT date codes 4618 through 4818. According to NHTSA, the inner liner gauge may be too thin, allowing the tire sidewall to fail. Consequently, a sidewall failure may cause the tire to rapidly deflate, increasing the risk of a crash.

Cooper Tire will notify owners of affected tires. Dealers will replace the tires free of charge. Recalls began on Aug. 30.
