LLN (3/19/19) – Finding jobs in an autonomous world is likely years down the road. However, one presidential candidate thinks it’s sooner than you think. And he has plans to ease truckers through the transition. Forty years following the end of the Vietnam War, a tribute truck is making its way across the country. And we’ll have an update on states increasing fuel taxes to pay for infrastructure.

  • The Nebraska Trucking Association is assisting emergency managers to try and round up food-grade bulk tanks to transport potable water for communities in need. The Vietnam Veteran Tribute Truck is offering war veterans recognition and hope. Terry Scruton will discuss the project and its purpose with its Creative Director Johnny Olson in today’s follow up.

  • The tribute trucks will appear at ceremonies March 29, National Vietnam War Veteran’s Day. They will appear at MacDill Air Force Base in Florida, Joint Base in San Antonio, and Fort Carson, Colo.

Segment 3

A growing list of states (Alabama, Ohio, Missouri, Idaho) may raise or reform fuel taxes to pay for infrastructure. Mary McKenna gets the details from Land Line Magazine’s State Legislative Editor, Keith Goble.

Segment 4

Mary McKenna will have details on one presidential candidate’s proposal to assist truckers to transition to Automated Truck technology. She’ll talk with Nile Elam of OOIDA’s Washington, D.C., Office. Plus we’ll discuss the next step for Automated Vehicle regulations.
