In about a month, the 2019 Great American Trucking Show returns to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. OOIDA will be there and will offer the first Shift Into Success class, which is aimed at helping truck drivers kick their careers into high gear.

GATS will offer entertainment, free health screenings, and opportunities to learn how to be more successful in your business.

GATS is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The dates are Aug. 22-24. Registration to attend the show is free and can be done by going to the GATS website.

Among the other GATS highlights are the Pride & Polish truck show, a trucker talent search, entertainment, a health and wellness pavilion, and various seminars on aspects of the trucking industry.

There will be live music provided by entertainers at GATS, including Bill Weaver, Brad James, Taylor Barker, and the Stone Creek Four.

Some of the free health screenings include kidney screenings, discounted DOT physicals, prostate exams, blood sugar and blood pressure tests, and mammograms.

Shift Into Success at GATS

OOIDA’s Shift Into Success class will focus on determining the cost of operations for owner-operators and small fleet owners.

Company drivers are welcome to attend to see what lies ahead if they are considering becoming an owner-operator.

OOIDA’s business class will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, in room C-147. The two-hour class is free to the public, and drivers do not need to be a member of OOIDA to attend. Participants are not required to register in advance.

“Here at OOIDA, our No. 1 goal is to help drivers be more successful and more profitable in their business,” OOIDA Executive Vice President Lewie Pugh said. “That is the driving force behind this class.”

Andrew King, of the OOIDA Foundation, and Pugh will lead the Shift Into Success class at GATS, which will include a segment of the information featured at OOIDA’s three-day Truck to Success course.

Truck drivers are also encouraged to stop by Booth No. 2213 during GATS and meet with representatives of OOIDA.
