Call to Action: Senate bill to stop speed limiters introduced

July 31, 2023

|

Montana Senator Steve Daines has introduced S.2671, the Deregulating Restrictions on Interstate Vehicles and Eighteen-Wheelers (DRIVE) Act. The legislation would prevent FMCSA from advancing any potential speed limiter mandate. In addition to Senator Daines, Sens. John Thune (SD), Mike Lee (UT), Roger Marshall (KS), Roger Wicker (MS), and Mike Rounds (SD) have cosponsored this legislation.

Speed limiting devices on large trucks have been proven to create unnecessary congestion and dangerous speed differentials among vehicles. This results in higher rates of vehicle interaction and higher crash rates.

Now we need your help to contact lawmakers and increase support for S. 2671. Please click here to contact your U.S. Senators and urge them to cosponsor S. 2671. Tell them that this bill would stop dangerous overreach by the federal government that will negatively impact highway safety, supply chain efficiency and driver retention.
