Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain Western Star trucks for an issue involving the sleeper, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents.

More than 2,500 Western Star 4900 and 5700 trucks model year 2017-2020 are affected by the recall.

According to NHTSA, the adhesive bond may fail allowing the baggage or sleeper side door to separate from the hinges. A baggage or sleeper side door that separates from the vehicle while in motion can cause road debris, increasing the risk of an injury or crash.

A remedy for the issue is still under development. Recalls are expected to begin Dec. 7.

Owners of Western Star trucks can contact Daimler Trucks North America with questions at 800-547-0712 with recall number FL831. NHTSA’s number for this recall is 19V-722.
