Voting open for TCA Highway Angels of the Year award
The public voting portion of the Truckload Carriers Association’s Highway Angels of the Year award has begun.
TCA said it presents this award annually to celebrate the heroic actions of professional drivers.
Of the five remaining finalists, the top three vote-getters will be honored as this year’s Highway Angels of the Year at TCA’s 2025 Annual Convention scheduled for March 15-18, 2025 in Phoenix.
The 2025 TCA Highway Angels of the Year finalists
On its Highway Angels website, TCA shares details about each finalist:
- Andrew Inlow, Booneville, Miss., Maverick Transportation: Nominated for helping to feed hundreds in the Asheville, N.C., area affected by Hurricane Helene. Inlow spent about $1,000 and even went door-to-door at a Days Inn asking guests if they needed food.
- Jason Corino, Deltona, Fla., Melton Truck Lines: Corino stopped his truck to shield other motorists from a shooting during a roadside traffic stop in Cortez, Colo.
- Michael Dorsey, Porter, Texas, Mercer Transportation Co.: Dorsey used his trailer to keep flood victims alive in Tennessee. The flooding occurred as Hurricane Helene brought historic levels of rain to the region.
- Joseph Carroll, London, Ontario, Canada, Elgin Motor Freight: Carroll rescued a trucker after a crash that left him trapped. He managed to push the heavy roof off the driver, who was covered with scattered contents from inside the truck. Carroll and the driver he assisted have kept in touch since the incident.
- Daljit Sohi, Triple Eight Transport Inc.: Sohi noticed a woman dropped her purse at a rest stop and literally went the extra mile, driving three hours to return it to her. Inside the purse was $1,100 in cash, a gold chain, credit cards and identification cards. When she tried to pay Sohi $500 for returning the valuables, he refused to take it.
