Voting for Pilot Flying J’s Road Warrior underway

Pilot Flying J has opened the polls for the sixth annual Road Warrior contest. Voting will run for one week only, from Aug. 12-19.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 12, and ending on Monday, Aug. 19, at 7:59 a.m. EDT, anyone can vote on Pilot Flying J’s next Road Warrior by clicking here.

Last month, Pilot Flying J accepted nominees for the sixth Road Warrior. Those nominations have been narrowed down to three finalists.

Timothy Chelette of Murfressboro, Tenn.
Timothy joined the Big G Express team 15 years ago. In the last four years, he had the opportunity to join the leadership team and give back to the industry. In this position, he’s helped raise more than $30,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through an annual community motorcycle ride. He is also an ATA American Road Team Captain and is a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, serving as the president of his chapter for the last five years.

William McNamee of Christopher, Ill.
Bill has been a professional truck driver for 28 years, currently working for Carbon Express. One of his greatest achievements has been serving as a Trucker Buddy for 22 years – teaching young students about the vital necessity of trucking in the nation. Bill is an ATA American Road Team Captain and was also a finalist this year for the National Tank Truck Carriers’ Professional Driver of the Year Award. He also took third place in the 2019 Illinois Truck Driving Championship in the Tank Division. Before entering the trucking industry, Bill served the country in the United States Marine Corps.

Rodney Hagan of Webster, Fla.
Rodney entered the trucking industry in April 2016. Since then, he has been adamant about supporting and bettering his family, specifically his son, Jahmar, who is autistic. He consistently puts 30% of his net income into an account for Jahmar so that he can be financially taken care of in the future. In his short career as a professional truck driver, Rodney has received several awards for safe driving, outstanding work conduct and miles driven. He’s also passed every inspection from DOT and local law enforcement.

The grand prize winner will receive $10,000, with second and third place winners receiving $5,000 and $2,500, respectively. Those who nominated the three finalists will receive $500 prize as well.

“Each year, we are excited to celebrate professional drivers and show appreciation for their tireless work and commitment to delivering the goods that make daily life possible,” PFJ President Ken Parent said in a statement. “The Road Warrior program is our way of thanking and recognizing the many exceptional drivers that are critical to the industry and our economy. We look forward to reading the inspiring stories that are shared with this year’s nominations.”

UPS driver Victoria Andrade claimed last year’s Road Warrior title. Also a full-time mother, Andrade started working at UPS as a part-time car washer to support eight siblings and her college education. Andrade graduated college and remained with UPS, working her way up to be the first female in South Texas to become a feeder driver for UPS.
