The St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund is honoring Jim Johnston with “Jim’s Day” on July 23, Jim’s birthday. As former president and CEO of OOIDA, Jim’s support for SCF goes back to its beginnings.

“Jim helped keep the SCF’s doors open twice in our early days, has donated additional thousands since then, and he became the largest sponsor of our vaccine program,” said Donna Kennedy, executive director.

Jim believed that all professional truckers should stick together and pursue their interests. A passion coined by his own words to, “never give up, just find another way to fight back.”

Johnston passed away on Jan. 8, at the age of 78. He served as OOIDA’s president and CEO since 1975, helping turn the grassroots effort into the largest national organization for truckers with more than 160,000 members. He continued to work full time up until only days before his passing and remained dedicated to his core mission and that of the Association – fighting for the rights of all truckers.

All are encouraged to honor Jim’s commitment and passion for standing up for truckers’ rights by making donations to SCF in Jim’s name on July 23 this year and each year going forward. Donations can be made via check or online at TruckersFund.org.

The St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit truck driver charity that helps over-the-road/regional semi-truck drivers and their families when an illness or injury, occurring within the last year, has caused them to be out of work. The SCF also works to provide programs that will benefit professional drivers and the trucking industry.

You can find more information about Jim’s Day on the St. Christopher Facebook page.
