The next stop for OOIDA’s tour truck is Cartersville, Ga.

Jon Osburn, skipper of the Spirit of the American Trucker, plans to set up at the Cartersville TA truck stop at Exit 2962 on I-75.

He is scheduled to be in Cartersville through March 31.

Cartersville is northwest of Atlanta.

The stop before Cartersville was in Antioch, Tenn., where Jon said drivers expressed many comments and questions about ELDs.

“I’m seeing a lot be people driving without ELDs,” he said, even though the deadline for full enforcement is April 1, just a few days away. On April 1, truckers can be put out of service for 10 hours if caught driving without an operational ELD.

The drive from Antioch to Cartersville takes Jon and The Spirit on I-24 across Nickajack Lake on the Tennessee River before driving through Chattanooga, Tenn. There he gets on I-75, which takes him on the edge of John’s Mountain Wildlife Management Area, which is primarily owned by the U.S. Forest Service, before rolling into Cartersville.

Whenever you see The Spirit tour truck, go up and say hello to Jon. He enjoys visiting about the Association’s activities and current issues. You can also join or renew your OOIDA membership for $10 off the regular price there. Also, you can get vouchers for flu, shingles and pneumonia vaccines from Jon at The Spirit.
