  • Van and reefer rates stabilize

    LLN (3/13/19) – After falling for eight weeks, van and reefer rates stabilize. Also, when getting your own authority, you first have to decide what kind of authority. Meanwhile, crude oil prices are up, but diesel prices remain relatively flat. The American Petroleum Institute has some advice on buying diesel exhaust fluid. And two bills in Congress call for electronic logging device exemptions.

    • The Army & Air Force Exchange Service – which provides retail services for active duty and veteran military personnel – has launched a rolling tribute to Vietnam vets in the form of three trucks. Read more: Army & Air Force Exchange Service honors Vietnam vets with tribute trailers.
    • Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson signed a bill this week that will raise the diesel tax by 6 cents to help pay for highways. The gasoline tax will rise by 3 cents. Learn more about the bill – and what other states are doing – here: UPDATE: Fuel taxes topic of hot conversation in 12 states.
    • At 10 a.m. Thursday, March 28, OOIDA will conduct a town hall meeting at the Mid America Trucking Show for members of the Association. The session is designed to gather member input on some current issues. If you are not a member and want to take part, you can join at the door.
