The battle over worker classification continues
Land Line Now is closing out 2024 by taking a look back at the stories that made the biggest impressions over the past 12 months – a top 10 of sorts. Things like driver pay, the Truck Leasing Task Force and predatory towing are on the list. But today, we’re going to look at another issue of importance – worker classification. And helping us with that conversation is Tyson Fisher, associate editor of Land Line Magazine.
Some simple ways to stay fit on the road
Staying fit while working as a professional truck driver can be quite difficult. That’s no secret; the job is notoriously rough on the body. And that’s why Truckstop recently published a blog post dedicated to simple exercises for staying fit on the road. Justin Coleman, a doctor of physical therapy, put it together. He joins Land Line Now to discuss, along with Brent Hutto, Truckstop’s chief relationship officer.
Legal issues often depend on whether you’re interstate or intrastate
For the most part on Land Line Now, we talk about long-haul trucking, with many listeners operating across large regions of the country or even coast-to-coast. But some truckers operate in a much smaller area and may not even leave a single state – and you need to be aware of the legal implications of the model under which you run. Alex Clark of CDL Legal explains.
Congress moves on to the next crisis
Congress recently took action to avoid a government shutdown. And while the immediate crisis was avoided, plenty of work remains to keep things moving in our nation’s capital – including some items important to truckers. Bryce Mongeon of OOIDA’s Washington, D.C., office offers a rundown.
