  • More truck parking out West; less back East

    Segment 1

    The Iowa DOT is seeking public comments on a plan that could potentially close as many as 11 full-service rest areas and 15 parking-only rest areas across the state in the coming years. Comments are being accepted through September of 2019. You can offer your opinions here.

     

    Dan Wallwork of Burnt River, Ontario, has been recognized by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association for 46 years of safe, accident-free driving as part of the OOIDA Safe Driving Award Program.

    Many towns have said no way to truck parking or truck stops within their borders. But a few have put out the welcome mat for truckers, seeing them as a positive influence and an economic benefit. The latest town to join that list is North Las Vegas, Nevada. Mary McKenna has a report.
