Highway funding in the president’s budget plan goes back to a more traditional scheme to pay for transportation – one that works far better for truckers.

Truckers could be caught in the cross-fire as the president battles New York state; Rhode Island may increase truck-only tolls; and what not to do in the cab of your truck – it’s today in trucking news.

III. State fuel tax efforts fall short
Two state efforts to raise fuel taxes to pay for road work have failed. We’ll discuss what they wanted to do and why they didn’t succeed.
IV. Highway funding goes back to tradition
Highway funding in the president’s new budget proposal continues many things – including numerous program from the previous highway bill and a controversial truck study. However, it also makes a big change from his previous proposals, in terms of how to pay for it all.
