Truckers for Troops Telethon Day 4

LLN (11/8/18) – It’s Day 4 of the 2018 OOIDA Truckers for Troops Telethon. Also tonight, a Korean War vet takes a special trip to our nation’s capital. A member of the reserves discusses how receiving a care package affected people on their first deployment. And how little, but important things get lost in the VA budget shuffle and how Truckers for Troops helps.

  • Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2017 to 2018 Freightliner Cascadias. The recall deals with the brake lights which may stay lit after the brake pedal is released. The corrective action on this is still under development but Daimler expects the recall to start Dec. 17. Owners may contact Daimler Trucks customer service at 800 547-0712. The Daimler recall number is FL-799.

Earlier this year, Kim Borron, the manager of Land Line Magazine, took her grandfather-in-law, a Korean War vet, on a trip to our nation’s capital. And the reaction they got from folks everywhere they went amazed them. Terry Scruton has the story.

Hannah Gaither – a firefighter in Huntsville, Ala., and member of the reserves – talks about her service overseas and how receiving a care package affected people on their first deployment. Mark Reddig has a report.

  • We’re soliciting hand-made cards and letters from kids, as well as personal thank-you letters to the troops from truckers and others.
