It’s day 1 of the 2020 OOIDA Truckers for Troops campaign – raising money to support our troops overseas and to help homeless veterans.
I. Today’s news with Terry Scruton
OOIDA says no way to an under-21 pilot program; Volvo goes electric; and why did the bear cross the border? It’s today’s news in trucking.
II. Founder describes Veterans Community Project
It’s day 1 of the 2020 OOIDA Truckers for Troops campaign – the Association’s annual effort to raise money to send care packages to troops overseas, and now to help homeless veterans by supporting the Veterans Community Project. One of the founders of that organization, Vincent Morales, explains a few of the basics about the project.
III. Veterans helping veterans
One of the things that sets Veterans Community Project apart is that most of the people who run it are veterans themselves. Glenda Hernandez talks about what the program has meant to her – and her current role in helping veterans adjust to coming home.
IV. Truckers show their support
Scott Thompson stops in to OOIDA’s Membership Department to find out what truckers who are calling in are saying.
