The former U.S. Ambassador to Canada shares his concerns about U.S. Canadian relations if Congress doesn’t act on the USMCA agreement. Plus, Illinois is raising fees and its fuel tax to pay for roads. And in Nevada, lawmakers are looking to increase the diesel tax but says it will use part of the revenue to add truck parking along I-80.

A proposal that could change hours-of-service regulations for agricultural haulers has been sent to the White House Office of Management and Budget, where it is awaiting review.

After falling last week for the first time since March, diesel prices are on the rise again this week. The Energy Information Administration reports the national average for the week ending May 20 at $3.163 a gallon, up 3/10ths of a penny from the week before.

The U.S. Mexico Canada agreement – or USMCA – was finalized last year as a replacement for NAFTA, but it has yet to be ratified by Congress and time may be running out. Terry Scruton and Land Line Magazine’s Tyson Fisher talk with Bruce Heyman, former U.S. Ambassador to Canada, about whether or not the deal will get done and what it could mean for relations between the U.S. and Canada if it doesn’t.
