A federal court has granted class-action status to a lawsuit accusing Swift Transportation of failing to provide overtime pay to employee drivers who live in Washington state. It’s a case that sheds a spotlight on the shortcomings within the pay-by-the-mile system – and makes a case for federal action that would guarantee overtime pay for truck drivers.
