Bill would put teeth into fight against fraud
A bill that would have given FMCSA some real teeth in the fight against freight fraud failed to gain traction in the last session of Congress – but a renewed effort just popped up, and it’s already off to a strong start. Mark Schremmer of Land Line Magazine joins Land Line Now with the latest.
DOT, EPA have new leaders – who are they?
A new president means a lot of things are going to change, and some of them very quickly. Perhaps the most noticeable thing is different people in charge of major federal departments – people who bring their own personalities, knowledge and priorities to their new positions. That process of choosing those leaders is now underway. OOIDA Director of Federal Affairs Jay Grimes discusses the new heads of the DOT and EPA – and offers up the latest on the president’s funding freeze.
What’s next now that DOT and EPA leaders are on the job?
We’ll take a deeper look into President Donald Trump’s picks to lead the U.S. DOT and EPA as they hit the ground running this week, making moves on trucking issues. Tyson Fisher and Mark Schremmer of Land Line Magazine join Land Line Now to discuss that and to look at potential action that could be coming in the weeks and months ahead.
Truckers having more problems with lease-purchase
OOIDA tour truck driver Marty Ellis is hearing about some of the continuing problems truckers are having with lease-purchase agreements, and he’s seeing a growing number of trucks out on the road that are clearly unsafe.
