Pennsylvania officer allegedly offered sex to trucker for favorable inspection

A Pennsylvania State Patrol motor carrier enforcement officer has been charged for allegedly soliciting a sexual act from a trucker in return for leniency on violations during an inspection, according to a Pennsylvania State Patrol news release.

On Aug. 23, enforcement officer Robert Aigeldinger, 49, allegedly coerced a truck driver to perform a sexual act in exchange for a more favorable inspection. According to the news release, this incident occurred on Thursday, Aug. 23, on Interstate 81 in Dorrance Township in Luzerne County.

Court records reveal Aigeldinger is being charged on two counts: criminal coercion and official oppression. Both are misdemeanors.

Aigeldinger has been suspended without pay while the department continues to investigate. Motor carrier enforcement officers are not sworn law enforcement officers and do not carry firearms.

According to court documents, Aigeldinger was charged on Tuesday, Aug. 28. Unsecured bail was set at $25,000, which has been posted. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 6.
