  • Land Line celebrates 50 years

Tell a truck driver that something can’t be done, and you might as well wave a red flag at a charging bull.

One of the first presidents of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, Jim Johnston, decided in 1975 he was fed up with the lack of mainstream media exposure the then 2-year-old Association received.

Unlike people who think freedom of the press is their right to demand media coverage, Johnston started the Association’s own magazine – although to call it a magazine would be generous. In the beginning, it was more of a glorified newsletter.

But just like OOIDA, Land Line grew from those humble beginnings into the go-to news resource for actual truckers.
