There’s only one place for OOIDA’s tour truck, The Spirit of the American Trucker, to be March 22-24, and that’s at the Mid-America Trucking Show at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.

The address: 937 Phillips Ln; Louisville, KY 40209. Look for The Spirit in the J Parking Lot.

Along with Jon Osburn, skipper of The Spirit, OOIDA Acting President Todd Spencer and the rest of the executive staff will be there. So will Land Line Magazine’s Managing Editor Jami Jones, Associate Editor Mark Schremmer, Field Editor Suzanne Stempinski along with Staff Writers Tyson Fisher and Wendy Parker and the broadcast crew from Land Line Now.

If you are going to MATS too, remember on Friday, March 23, OOIDA is hosting a special member event to celebrate the life of Jim Johnston, OOIDA’s long-time president and CEO who died Jan. 8.

This free open house event is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in conference room B101/102 in the South Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center.

All members are invited to come and meet OOIDA board members, staff and fellow OOIDA members as we acknowledge the extraordinary contribution Jim made to all professional truckers and to OOIDA’s 45-year history and its growth into the nation’s largest trucker organization.  Several speakers, including OOIDA Acting President Todd Spencer, will address the event.

If you plan to attend, please help us plan for refreshments by RSVP’ing here.

Osburn is trucking in from the Glendale, Ky., Petro, which is just 11 miles into the Eastern time zone. Two issues were top-of-mind for truckers there. One, why isn’t truckers’ pay keeping up with cost of living? Second, what’s up with ELDs, especially with the full-enforcement period kicking in on April 1.

Whenever you see The Spirit tour truck, go say hello to Jon. He enjoys visiting about the Association’s activities and current issues. You can also join or renew your OOIDA membership for $10 off the regular price. Plus, you can get vouchers for flu, shingles and pneumonia vaccines from Jon at The Spirit.
