  • Newer Western Star trucks recalled for steering shaft issue

Date: November 20, 2019 | Author: | Category: News, Equipment

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain Western Star trucks for a steering issue, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration documents.

More specifically, Daimler is recalling more than 1,300 Western Star 4700 trucks model year 2020.

According to NHTSA, the steering shaft may have been improperly installed, potentially causing a loss of connection between the steering wheel and front axle wheels. If a connection is lost, it is likely to cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Daimler Trucks will notify owners of affected Western Star trucks. Dealers will inspect the truck and correct the steering shaft installation as needed. Recalls are scheduled to begin on Dec. 23.

For questions, call Daimler Trucks North America customer service at 800-547-0712 with recall number FL-835. NHTSA’s number for this recall is 19V-769.

This steering recall is unrelated to a steering recall issued for 2020 Volvo VNL and VNR trucks just a few days earlier.
