National Coalition on Truck Parking annual web conference slated for Dec. 6

As the U.S. Department of Transportation seeks participants for its truck parking survey, another response to Jason’s Law is also offering stakeholders a seat at the table regarding truck parking solutions. The National Coalition on Truck Parking will be holding its annual meeting on Dec. 6, accessible via web conference or phone call-in.

From 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Eastern time on Dec. 6, the National Coalition on Truck Parking will hold its annual meeting web conference. The web conference is open to all interested parties. Those wanting to sit in need to register by Dec. 4, and they can do it by clicking here. Meeting minutes and products can be accessed here. Truckers will also be able to dial in from a cellphone instead of logging in through a computer.

The meeting will feature presentations by leaders of the working groups. Launched in 2017, the working groups brought together stakeholders from across the nation to create strategies for various truck parking improvement initiatives related to:

• Parking capacity.
• Technology and data.
• Funding, finance and regulations.
• Coordination with regional/local governments.

Presenters will give an overview of products that were developed this year. Also on the agenda will be updates from states, Metropolitan Planning Organizations and core partners on truck parking initiatives. The coalition will also discuss activities it will begin in the future.

According to the Federal Highway Administration, the National Coalition on Truck Parking brings together stakeholders from the public sector, transportation organizations, the freight industry, and other groups to advance safe truck parking. In fall 2017, the coalition held its annual meeting to showcase cross-cutting truck parking initiatives from states and introduce the National Coalition on Truck Parking Working Groups.

The purpose of the working groups is to share best practices and create products to disseminate information on truck parking issues related to priorities identified during regional meetings in 2016. Working groups cover parking capacity, technology/data, funding/finance/regulations, and state/regional/local government coordination.
