Mississippi CDL tester arrested, charged in fraud scheme

A former Mississippi Highway Patrol CDL tester has been charged and arrested for her role in CDL fraud scheme, according to court documents.

On April 3, the U.S. government filed an indictment in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi against Tonya Levera Davis. She was subsequently arrested two weeks later on April 18.

From September 2017 to January 2018, Davis knowingly and unlawfully used another person’s name and testing identification. In her role as a CDL tester, Davis falsely stated and represented that at least two CDL applicants had passed a driver’s skill test when in fact they did not take the test.

According to the indictment, Davis has been charged on six counts for identity theft, false statements and false entries. It appears that the six counts are for two false CDL test scores, three counts for each CDL applicant.

A jury trial is scheduled for June 17.
