    MARCH 24, 1924

    John “Jack” Mack, the co-founder of what is now known as Mack Trucks, died in a car crash with a trolley in Pennsylvania at the age of 59, according to the Mack Trucks Historical Museum. The company was founded by Jack and Gus Mack and was originally known as the Mack Bros. Co.

    MARCH 16, 2000

    OOIDA and other truckers converged on the U.S. Capitol to hold a peaceful protest for reasonable fuel pricing, fair compensation and equitable taxation. Several hundred trucks convoyed to Washington, D.C.

    MARCH 12, 2020

    The Mid-America Trucking Show announced its annual event scheduled for later that month would be canceled because of health concerns regarding the coronavirus. A day earlier, the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus to be a pandemic.

    MARCH 13, 2020

    President Donald Trump declared a national emergency because of COVID-19, and the FMCSA announced an emergency declaration providing hours-of-service regulatory relief to commercial vehicle drivers transporting certain supplies.
