Truckers act to make a difference

Communication with elected officials is a task that demands persistence. Your livelihood depends on continued watchfulness of goings-on at the federal, state and local levels of government.

To make this duty more workable, OOIDA is steadfast in its commitment to get the word out on important issues that affect you.

At the federal level, OOIDA works to bring truck drivers together to pursue change that benefits the industry. This summer, the Association called on members to ask their senators to stand against the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration mandating speed limiters for commercial vehicles.

Utilizing the internet, email and satellite radio, OOIDA relays information quickly to truckers about the Association’s positions and other significant issues. Land Line Media produces daily news for OOIDA’s websites, and Land Line Now broadcasts on Sirius XM Road Dog Trucking Channel 146.

OOIDA’s Call to Action Team also is ready to alert truckers of hot-button issues being discussed in Washington, D.C., in state legislatures and in communities across the country. The most current updates on important issues go out to members signed up to receive emails.

After receiving your alert, it is essential you contact your elected officials, whose information will be provided; visit their offices for a face-to-face conversation; attend a meeting where they are present for discussion; or submit comments. LL
