  • Celebrate the history of trucking

    June 01, 2022 |

The 2022 American Truck Historical Society National Convention and Truck Show is coming to Springfield, Ill.

At what’s been dubbed as the largest antique truck show in the world, nearly 1,000 trucks and trailers on June 9-11 will fill the Illinois State Fairgrounds. According to the ATHS, more than 10,000 people per day are expected to attend the three-day event.

“The 2022 ATHS National Convention and Truck Show will be an exceptional event,” Laurence Gration, ATHS executive director, said in a news release. “We were not sure it was going to happen, but the hard work of the local chapter paid off. We will have large and small trucks on display representing 100 years of trucking history, from lavish semis to turn-of-the-last-century classics for our members and guests to enjoy and explore. ATHS is proud to bring this family-friendly convention and show to the Springfield community.”

The annual event, which began in 1973, features a slew of antique and historical trucks as well as feature presentations on an array of topics.

In-person and virtual attendance is available. The virtual show is set to take place June 17-18. Those choosing the virtual option will give participants access to the various presentations, virtual truck show flipbook, and more for a full year.

Participation in the show, as well as access to select events, requires preregistration. Online registration forms, a complete show schedule, map and general information can be found at ATHS.org/Convention.

The convention rotates locations each year. Originally scheduled in Springfield, Ill., in 2020, the event was moved entirely online due to COVID-19 concerns. Over the next three years, the show is scheduled to move to Reno, Nev. in 2023; York, Pa., in 2024; and Madison, Wis., in 2025. LL
