The movie “High-Ballin’” starring Peter Fonda and Jerry Reed debuted in theaters. Reed, who also played a truck driver in the “Smokey and the Bandit” movies, played an independent trucker who fights against corruption involving the local trucker boss.

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association broke ground on a 48,000-square-foot building to be the Association’s headquarters in Grain Valley, Mo.

OOIDA donated $10,000 to the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund, which helps truck drivers obtain medical procedures at reduced costs.

The American Transportation Research Institute released a driver survey on sleep apnea issues that said 53 percent of drivers had to pay out of pocket when they have been referred for a sleep study. The average out-of-pocket expense was $1,220, the survey said.
