Rain doesn’t dampen annual convoy
Rain didn’t stop the 30th annual Mother’s Day Make-A-Wish convoy participants from lining up in record numbers. The event benefits Philadelphia/Northern Delaware/Susquehana Valley area children with critical and life threatening illnesses. Donations generated help Make-A-Wish to grant 365 life-changing wishes each year.
Raising money is a point of pride for drivers who return each year to support the cause.
“This was the first year we’ve filled up every spot in the parking lot and were having to park trucks off site for the very first time,” Ben Lee, director for Make-A-Wish in the Susquehanna Valley, told Lancaster, Pa., local news station WGAL.
An official figure of dollar amounts raised hadn’t been released by press time.
The budgeting goal for this year’s convoy was $550,000 – and Ben Lee’s personal goal was $600,000.
Road Pro Family of Brands sponsored the stage and entertainment – and the show went on. The company presented a donation of $30,000 to Lee.
Lee said he is optimistic that they will be close to $550,000 this year because of how the donations are trending.
