Are you a company driver who is considering taking the next step and becoming an owner-operator?
If the answer is yes, the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association suggests that you take its three-day educational course before making a decision.
OOIDA’s Truck to Success can provide you the tools you need to have a successful business as an owner-operator. Or Truck to Success can let you know that the time isn’t right for you to go into business on your own.
Either way, Truck to Success is an absolute must before any trucker makes that all-important decision.
“If you are thinking about taking the next big step in your career to become an owner-operator, it is important that you put yourself on the path to success,” OOIDA’s website says. “We offer you OOIDA’s Truck to Success, a three-day in-depth training curriculum that offers step-by-step guidance from the industry’s leading experts since 1973.”
OOIDA’s Truck to Success will be Oct. 17-19 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Blue Springs, Mo. The event can be attended in person or via Zoom.
Truck to Success is designed to assist drivers with the process of becoming an owner-operator.
The investment made by those attending Truck to Success is not lost on the Foundation.
“The in-person event is $495, and it’s a three-day seminar, but realistically you’re going to lose probably five days,” said Andrew King, research analyst for the OOIDA Foundation.
OOIDA also encourages the in-person event to give truckers the opportunity to network and ask individual questions to OOIDA staff members.
For those attending on Zoom, the cost of the online seminar is $250 per login connection. Attendees may bring a guest for an additional $125 if that guest requires a separate login, meaning they will login to the seminar from another location differing from your own. This is due to limited capacity.
The deadline to register for those wanting to attend in person is Oct. 2. The registration deadline to attend Truck to Success via Zoom is Oct. 14.
“Truck to Success features trainers, both from OOIDA and other trusted experts, who are in contact with owner-operators on a daily basis to bring you the most up-to-date information possible,” OOIDA’s website states. “If you are serious about your choice to become an owner-operator, then allow OOIDA’s expert staff, as well as their partners, to guide you from a company driver to a leased-on owner-operator, and/or to an owner-operator under their own authority.”
Another path
In addition to the annual event, OOIDA is now making the information available to truckers anytime of the year and from anywhere.
Ninety-day access to an online video version of the class can be purchased for $250.
Featuring trainers from OOIDA as well as industry experts, the online version of Truck to Success includes 16 hours of instruction.
You do not have to be an OOIDA member to take the course.
“We’ve gotten a number of calls and people coming in asking for this,” King said. “I’m excited that we now have this available for anyone who wants to take it.”
More information about all of the course options can be found at OOIDA.com. LL
