FMCSA plans to reduce UCR fees again

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration plans to reduce the fees for the Unified Carrier Registration again.

A notice of proposed rulemaking published Aug. 27 in the Federal Register would reduce the fees for 2020 by 12.82% below the 2018 registration fee level. Fees in 2021 would be about 4% below the 2018 level.

Last year, FMCSA reduced the UCR fees for 2019 by nearly 18% lower than the 2017 level.

The reduction of the current 2019 registration fees would range from about $2 to $1,629 per entity, depending on the number of vehicles owned or operated.

In 2019, motor carriers with two trucks or fewer were charged a fee of $62. The proposed fee for 2020 would be $60.
