Members of the staff of Land Line Magazine received awards for excellence in writing at the 2018 APEX awards.

The APEX awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content
and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. Winners are announced in mid-July.

APEX Grand Awards were presented in 12 major categories to honor the outstanding works in those categories. APEX Awards of Excellence recognize excellence in 100 individual categories.

The staff took home individual awards for excellence in two categories: Writing Series and Regular Departments and Columns.

Managing Editor Jami Jones, Contributing Editor-at-Large John Bendel and Associate Editor Mark Schremmer took home an award for excellence in series writing for their coverage of the electronic logging device mandate.

Bendel also received an award for excellence for his coverage about security concerns with ELDs, which appeared as part of his regular Land Line Magazine column “Gizmos and Gears.”
