Jon Osburn, skipper of OOIDA tour trailer The Spirit of the American Trucker, and his canine co-pilot Sassi, plan to spend Memorial Day Weekend in Knoxville, Tenn.

They will be camping out at the Petro truck stop on Exit 369 from Interstates 40 and 75, the Watt Road exit.

The stop before Knoxville was in Greenwood, La., which is just west of Shreveport, La. The weather was hot and humid, Jon said.

“I was having Saigon flashbacks. It was really humid,” he said.

Jon served three tours of duty as U.S. Navy medic in Vietnam.

A hot topic, besides the weather, in Greenwood was the sudden demise of electronic logging device company One20.

Minneapolis-based One20 announced in mid-May that it would cease operations on June 18 and all ELD apps bought from the company would no longer work after that.

“There are a lot of people snickering about One20’s going out of business. They are saying they may be the first ELD company to go out but they won’t be the last,” Jon said.

Whenever you see The Spirit tour truck, go say hello to Jon. He enjoys visiting about the Association’s activities and current issues. You also can join or renew your OOIDA membership for $10 off the regular price there. Also, you can get vouchers for flu, shingles and pneumonia vaccines from Jon at The Spirit.
