The next stop for OOIDA’s touring tractor-trailer is in Iowa. The Spirit of the American Trucker is headed for the Walcott Truckers Jamboree at the Iowa 80 Truckstop.

Jon Osburn, the skipper of the The Spirit, says he is looking forward to it. He plans to be there for the entire jamboree, July 12-14. You can find it on I-80 at Exit 284.

This is the 39th Walcott Truckers Jamboree.

Bill Moon and his family, the owners of the Iowa 80 Truckstop, began the event in 1979 to thank truck drivers who use their services and to celebrate the American trucker.

As Land Line has reported, this year’s jamboree will include an antique truck display, the Super Trucks Beauty Contest, more than 175 exhibits, an Iowa pork chop cookout, carnival games, live music, the Trucker Olympics, and fireworks.

Organizers expect more than 44,500 people to attend this year. The event and concerts are free.

In addition to the other services, vendors and events, Iowa 80 Trucking Museum is also at the truck stop, and admission to it is free. It has 90 or so trucks on display.

Whenever you see The Spirit tour truck, go say hello to Jon. He enjoys visiting about the Association’s activities and current issues. You also can join or renew your OOIDA membership for $10 off the regular price there. Also, you can get vouchers for flu, shingles and pneumonia vaccines from Jon at The Spirit.
