Pennsylvania rest areas close for a year

October 14, 2019

The Pennsylvania DOT is closing rest areas along Interstate 81 in Dauphin County until 2021. That will leave a more than 100-mile stretch of the highway without a working rest area. The next rest area available if you’re heading southbound is in Cumberland County just south of Carlisle. For northbound, you’ll have to go to Luzern County, near Nuangola. The Dauphin rest areas are being rebuilt.
