Midwest emergency HOS relief

A fire at BP’s largest refinery has prompted an emergency hours-of-service exemption in four states. FMCSA is lifting hours-of-service rules for carriers hauling gasoline, diesel and jet fuel to Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. The hours-of-service exemption is scheduled to run through Sept. 10, unless the issue is resolved before then. Read the declaration.

Animal shelter reaches out to truckers

Memphis Animal Services is reaching out to truckers as part of a new pet adoption program. The shelter will cap its adoption fee for truckers. A limited number of free pet beds is also available. If you’re interested, email the Memphis Animal Shelter at MAS@MemphisTN.gov.

Canada vaccinations survey

The Canadian Trucking Alliance is calling on its members to weigh in about COVID-19 vaccinations. The group has urged the Canadian and U.S. governments against changing entry and exit requirements at the border, and wants to provide the government with vaccination numbers for the trucking industry. You can take the survey online.

FAST enrollment events planned for September

Border-crossing truck drivers in Calsis, Maine, will be able to register for the FAST enrollment program happening Sept. 12 and Sept. 16. Another event will take place on Sept. 12 in Pembina, N.D. FAST is a commercial clearance program for known low-risk shipments entering the United States from Canada and Mexico.
