Call to Action: FMCSA looks for input on COVID waiver; FHWA announces truck parking meeting

September 9, 2022

|

Last week, FMCSA extended the COVID-19 HOS emergency declaration through Oct. 15. Now, the agency has requested input on the federal waiver. If you have delivered loads under the HOS waiver, let FMCSA know how much you’ve relied on the emergency declaration and whether there has been any effect on safety. You can submit your feedback to FMCSA here. The comment period closes on Sept. 21.

In other news, the Federal Highway Administration will hold a National Truck Parking Coalition meeting via Webinar on Friday, Sept. 30 to discuss ongoing efforts to address the parking shortage. The virtual event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern time and is open to the public. You can register to attend here. OOIDA will be updating the Coalition on our latest efforts to expand truck parking capacity.
