JULY 1979

Bill Moon held the first Walcott Truckers Jamboree at the Iowa 80 Truck Stop as a “thank you” to his customers. A few hundred drivers attended the first show. The show now is attended by tens of thousands of people annually.


JULY 14, 2009

Flying J and Pilot Travel Centers announced a preliminary agreement to merge.


JULY 1, 2013

As of this date, commercial drivers were required to comply with the hours of service final rule that was published in the Federal Register on Dec. 27, 2011. The final rule created limitations on the 34-hour restart and added the requirement of a 30-minute break.


JULY 7, 2017

More than 100,000 tax refund checks were mailed to truckers who were members of a class action lawsuit against the state of New York for unconstitutionally discriminatory registration and decal taxes. OOIDA and New York agreed to a settlement of $44.4 million in September 2016.
